First CQ Block
I hope I accomplished what I started out to do with this block. I should have had a better distribution of the light/dark fabrics. After talking to Debra on Saturday, adding the photos to the finished block seemed like a better plan than trying to incorporate them into the block itself. I managed to find some fabrics that will not detract from the pictures and have a vintage look. At least, I hope that's the result. This is all new and was a little like giving birth or maybe root canal surgery. Just kidding. Stretching is always painful at first. But I think it'll all be worth the effort.

Lookin' good, Deborah!
ReplyDeleteYou can always lay big pieces of lace or patches over areas that turn out wrong in the final composition. If push comes to shove, you can even applique another shape/color over the offending shape/color so lots of remedies.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you have a fine start.
Is the white embroidered corner going to match up with more white embroidered pieces in the next blocks?
I dunno. I'm having second thoughts about that patch.
ReplyDeleteIf all your blocks have that white edge then as they move around the center, the center will have a white frame. If the center is dark, the frame will outline it. If it is light, the frame will extend it.
ReplyDeleteIt kind of depends upon what you have planned.
I would leave it & see how it affects the next block.
