Here are a couple of pictures of the QOV that is taking me forever to finish. I'm really tired of this quilt. I got the striped border on, then it still wasn't large enough so last night I added yet another border but had run out of the fabric I used for most of the quilt. Debra had sent several patriotic themed fabrics, one of which I used for the outer border. I had to piece it but I think it will blend in and look fine.
This quilt top was going well until I started the outer border, which I don't have pictured here yet. It's not my best work, but it will be okay I think once it's quilted. I'm not ripping anything out, since I must have done so about a hundred times yesterday. If you look closely you will see some flaws. It comes from having to really stretch your fabric. My mistake was not working in some of the other fabrics Debra sent, once I started using these three pieces, I couldn't find a way to work anything else in. Well, now I'm gonna have to.
When I finally finish this top, I'm working on something compeltely different for awhile. Debra has the right idea to move these charity quilts along, as they get pretty tiresome for me after awhile if I try too hard. I think you have to keep them moving and not get hung up on anything, or like me, you will get so tired of it. I would have been fine if I could have stopped afte the checkerboard border.
Oh well. Moving along....

Sorry!
I really intended to post pictures yesterday but I got a call at 2 am that my husband was being taken to the emergency room because he was having chest pains. So that's where I was all day yesterday, from 2 am until 7 pm.
He is fine, was not having a heart attack. He had a cardiac catheterization around 1:00 m and there was no blockage, so he will have follow up outpatient procedures to try and determine the cause. Perhaps it's gastrointestinal - who knows?
So I had about 4 hours sleep and at my age, that's not good. I managed to get into work for about an hour to clear out one thing that was bothering me, then back to the hospital to wait and doze.
I'm just grateful everything is okay. This has happened before, but you always wonder if this time it's really a heart attack.
On a side note, the nurse in the catheterization lab told me they do from 30-40 of those procedures Monday through Friday, just at this hospital. Wow. That's a lot of folks.
Nowdays, if they see a blockage, they insert a stint then and there.
I'm going to do my best to update today because I know thousands of loyal lurkers are holding their collective breath!
Take care!

I was trying not to look at my photos from the Charleston vacation because brother, have I felt the need to get away lately. I've been listening to "Skylark" over and over and watching Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil even though it's not a very good movie, it was shot partly in Savannah and it does have the real Lady Chablis in it. But mostly I've been listening to Johnny Mercer. Sigh.
Not to be, not in the near future, DH says; we are moving the horses down closer to home and that's gonna cost a bundle; not to mention DD#2 is graduating and we've got AP tests, yearbooks, and PROM. So I will have to content myself with a two dimensional substitute and "Skylark".
So I got up the nerve to post this picture of me, DH, and DD#2 taken in Charleston. I look totally goofy, which is why I do not LIKE having my picture taken. I HATE IT as a matter of fact, I'm awkward and come off look like, "Oh, hello. Are you taking my pick-ture?"

Wednesday Quilters
The center block for the QOV. Coming along.
A blanket I'm finishing up for hospitalized soldiers. It's a fleece blanket lined with some fabric Debra sent me. It's turning out pretty nicely. Please don't mind the body parts in the background.

Slowly but surely
I'm working on the QOV, and will post pictures tomorrow. The weekend was absolutely beautiful, in the 70's, sunny, beautiful. I could not stay cooped up in my sewing cubicle, but did get a lot done in the evening.
I have been given a new job at work, not a promotion but I am being moved into collection development which I love. I cannot wait to get started; right now I'm in a transitional phase.
If all goes according to plan, I will not be working evenings, Saturdays, or Sundays!! How fabulous is that?
All things come to those who wait. It only took 105 years, but I finally got the job I wanted.
Happy stitching!

Wednesday Quilters
Not much progress in the Quilting Cafe this week. I'm trying to do a large Lone Star block in the middle of the QOV I'm working on but to speed things up, maybe I'll use one of the blocks Debra sent me.
There has been a lot going on at work this week, and when I get home, I start talking to my daughters and before I know it, it's 10 pm and I'm exhausted. I worked Saturday, and Sunday went back over to my SIL's to help finish up her mother's room. We were hard at it from 10:30 until 4:30 (a few breaks in there but not many). Fortunately we got the room cleaned up but all the many years of collected stuff is in boxes and bags for my SIL to sort through. About 60 years' worth. I don't envy her. Went through that when my mother moved from her home of 50+ years and it was very hard.
Here you see the tiny space in which I try to quilt and sew. Rather confining.
Hope your week was more productive.
Most of you are over here from Debra's blog anyway, but if not, be sure to stop by there and check out her phenomenal progress with her charity quilts. She's made more than 15 since the beginning of the year. I will not make that many in a lifetime!
